\nThey bomb me from afar, although<\/p>\n

here, all is quiet and still:<\/p>\n

the silent stream, the silent grove,<\/p>\n

the sky above the hill.

It seems as if year, week and hour<\/p>\n

crouch in a catacomb.<\/p>\n

And though they bomb me from afar,<\/p>\n

each strike is hitting home.
\n <\/p>\n

A shock of electricity \u2013<\/p>\n

I feel as if I’m lost,<\/p>\n

and this quiet town in Germany<\/p>\n

looks almost like a ghost.
\n <\/p>\n

Between us, friends, through hill and plain<\/p>\n

runs a connecting line.<\/p>\n

But I dare not compare your pain,<\/p>\n

your dreadful pain, with mine.
\n <\/p>\n

Because I live in foreign lands,<\/p>\n

I feel, day after day,<\/p>\n

a mix of guilt, powerlessness, angst<\/p>\n

for being far away
\n <\/p>\n

from my Ukraine whose armor lets<\/p>\n

the whole world carry on,<\/p>\n

while where I live, I\u2019m but a guest<\/p>\n

who might as well be gone.
\n <\/p>\n

And all the time the same, same thought<\/p>\n

bores tunnels in my mind.<\/p>\n

And I can hear blasts rumbling \u2013 not<\/p>\n

in town, but deep inside.
\n <\/p>\n

But I\u2019ll be useful, I\u2019ll pull through<\/p>\n

to help you\u2026 I believe,<\/p>\n

admire you and take pride in you.<\/p>\n

I love you. And I grieve.
\n <\/p>\n

Please do not break my lifeline to<\/p>\n

you, while I grow my pain.<\/p>\n

I may forgive myself, if you<\/p>\n

forgive me, my Ukraine.<\/p>\n
