He never learned how to fit, to blend in, <\/p>\n

Though he never took an antisocial stand.<\/p>\n

Not a rebel, yet from early school days <\/p>\n

He got his ass kicked every now and then.
\n  <\/p>\n

He marched awry, not following commands,<\/p>\n

and undermined the order of the hour;<\/p>\n

And claimed the world was held by God\u2019s intent,<\/p>\n

but loathed the words authority and power.<\/p>\n

 
\nHe offered no quick fixes, no advice,<\/p>\n

to heal a house already marked for fall;<\/p>\n

By instinct \u2014 skin or gut \u2014 he recognized<\/p>\n

The hollow truth in patterned shawls that call
\n <\/p>\n

to faith. He hid it not, and in the sternest hour<\/p>\n

when weighty words were due, he\u2019d simply say:<\/p>\n

the seas are blue, the snows are white, and how<\/p>\n

fresh droppings brownly stain the break of day;
\n <\/p>\n

how bright the flames of cursed braziers\u2019 glow,<\/p>\n

and how dirty laundry is a huge deceit\u2026<\/p>\n

He was polite, yet never quite in tow,<\/p>\n

desired love, but never searched for it.
\n <\/p>\n

And he was not extravagant but gallant, <\/p>\n

He rose and left without saying a word\u2026<\/p>\n

Was he a cultist? No, a mutant rather,<\/p>\n

Hmm\u2026 There are many bozos in this world. <\/p>\n

 
\nThe portrait\u2019s done. The verdict now is plain:<\/p>\n

flanks are unchecked, disorder at the gate,<\/p>\n

And such a type, beyond all doubt or gain,<\/p>\n

Is dangerous to the values of the state.
