Levy,<br \/>\nmaybe that\u2019s why he never showed his medals,<br \/>\nnever even mentioned he was a veteran,<br \/>\nnever joined any parade<br \/>\nor a veterans\u2019 group;<br \/>\nhe didn\u2019t kill himself like Primo Levy,<br \/>\nhe didn&#8217;t talk about the war,<br \/>\nyet his thoughts were passed on to me<br \/>\nlike a silent memory,<br \/>\nand maybe that\u2019s why sometimes I abbiamo lasciato per sempre la nostra madrepatria sovietica<br \/>\n\u00e8 rimasta su un davanzale<br \/>\ndel nostro appartamento di Mosca,<br \/>\ninsieme alla tesi di dottorato di mia madre.<br \/>\nC\u2019era solo un certo numero di cose \u2013 molto limitato-<br \/>\nche si potevano portare via in quei giorni<br \/>\ne io, bambina sciocca, mi rifiutai di partire<br \/>\nsenza i quadri della mia infanzia,<br \/>\ncos\u00ec presero i miei quadri, i libri e le foto<br \/>\ne tutti vennero dati ad un console olandese,<br \/>\npoich\u00e8 non si potevano prendere certe cose<br \/>\nnei mio padre,<br \/>\ne concordava con Primo Levi;<br \/>\nforse \u00e8 per questo che non mostrava mai le proprie medaglie,<br \/>\nnon diceva mai di essere un veterano,<br \/>\nnon partecipava mai a una parata<br \/>\nn\u00e9 fece mai parte di un gruppo di veterani;<br \/>\nnon si uccise come Primo Levi,<br \/>\nnon parlava di guerra,<br \/>\nma i suoi pensieri mi sono stati tramandati<br \/>\ncome una memoria silenziosa,<br \/>\ne forse \u00e8 per questo che talvolta ricordo<br \/>\ncose che non ho mai vissuto personalmente.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br
