They had long beards and stinking arm-pits.<\/p>\n

They were wide-mouthed, long-yarded and great-bellied<\/p>\n

Yet of no taller stature, Sirs, than you.<\/p>\n

They lived on Ogre-Strand, which was no place<\/p>\n

But the churl\u2019s terror of their proud extent.<\/p>\n

Where every foot was three-and-thirty inches,<\/p>\n

And every penny bought a whole sheep.
\n  <\/p>\n

Now of their company none survive, not one,<\/p>\n

The times being, thank God, unfavourable<\/p>\n

To all but nightmare shadows of them.<\/p>\n

Their images stand howling in the waste,<\/p>\n

(The winds enforced against their wide mouths)<\/p>\n

whose granite haunches king and priest must yearly<\/p>\n

Buss and their cold knobbled knees.

So many feats they did to admiration:<\/p>\n

With their enormous lips they sang louder<\/p>\n

Than ten cathedral choirs, and with their grand yards<\/p>\n

Stormed the most rare and obstinate maidenheads,<\/p>\n

With their strong-gutted and capacious bellies<\/p>\n

Digested stones and glass like ostriches.

They dug great pits and heaped great cairns,<\/p>\n

Deflected rivers, slew whole armies,<\/p>\n

And hammered judgments for posterity<\/p>\n

For the sweet cupid-lipped and tassel-yarded<\/p>\n

Delicate-stomached dwellers<\/p>\n

In Pygmy Alley, where with brooding on them<\/p>\n

A foot is shrunk to seven inches<\/p>\n

And twelve-pence will not buy a spare rib.<\/p>\n
