The days have come when, holding fast to <\/p>\n
neither notes, nor meaning, nor fire,<\/p>\n
words, crumpling, yielding<\/p>\n
way, fly off into the void;<\/p>\n
and I, frozen on the bridge, <\/p>\n
without peering, without reading,<\/p>\n
flip through my cramped text,<\/p>\n
that version of a familiar fate,<\/p>\n
where page sticks to page.

But between those pages in my dreams<\/p>\n
a certain bookmark was kept;<\/p>\n
it, it seems to me, was<\/p>\n
a piece of a theatre programme,<\/p>\n
when the path led me<\/p>\n
into a separate world, still real,<\/p>\n
until the heavenly bodies<\/p>\n
collided near the edge of the cliff,<\/p>\n
and the boat rocked on the waves.

You will no longer cut your hand<\/p>\n
on the torn edge of that tin<\/p>\n
canning jar, where at the bottom<\/p>\n
a useless coin jingles;<\/p>\n
take flight, leave behind against the backdrop of summer <\/p>\n
under the serene moon, <\/p>\n
without deciphering the letters in a dream,<\/p>\n
your unread earthly text:<\/p>\n
there is no place for sound in a vacuum.<\/p>\n
