Shelly Sanders is a Canadian Jewish journalist and novelist who writes in English. After two decades as a freelance writer, she published her first novel, Rachel’s Secret (Second Story Press, 2012), a work of historical fiction. The book traces her grandmother’s journey from Imperial Russia to Shanghai in the early 1900s and became the first in a trilogy inspired by her Russian-Jewish grandmother. Her novel Daughters of the Occupation follows Miriam Talan, a Jewish woman living in Riga, Latvia, under German occupation, and later, in the United States.
